Just a friendly reminder from The Vanatta Team to turn back the clocks tonight for the end of Daylight Saving Time. Daylight Saving Time runs through 2 a.m. Sunday (tomorrow) and begins again March 8, 2009.
This begins a wonderful time in the mountains. Life runs at a slower pace in preparation for a busy winter season. As it begins to get dark when you step out of the office, you know winter is near. Soon enough we'll all be enjoying hot totties by the fire as the powder stacks up outside, with hopes of all getting first tracks the next day!
Did you know that these states and countries within North America don't observe Daylight Savings: Hawaii, Arizona, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and Saskatchewan?
Daylight saving has been used in the United States and in many European countries since World War I, when the system was adopted in order to conserve fuel needed to produce electric power. Some localities reverted to standard time after the war, but others retained daylight saving.
So, enjoy the extra hour of sleep this Sunday morning. Looking at the local forecast, it may be the perfect day to lie in bed a little longer anyway!
